The Five Virtues Across Time
The gotoku-neko starts as a small household story. A cat sits too close to the fire, learns the shape of the kettle stand, and quietly earns its keep. Ours never stopped sitting.
It kept its place through Edo shrine grounds, where merchants left the first coin of the day at the gate. Through mountain ryokan, where steam comes off the rocks all night and nobody hurries. Through rooftops above a Tokyo that has not happened yet, where the charm at its neck holds a key instead of a bell.
Each Kat carries one of the five virtues. The era changes, the fur changes, the paw stays raised.
